Great Adventure
Day Four

We arrived late at the Sandford Hotel.  It is a privately owned country house hotel, located somewhat between St. Andrews and Carnoustie and not far from Tayport where we played golf early in the morning.  This was a lovely converted old manor house.  We had two dinners there and much whiskey in the lounge.  The hospitality was outstanding.
The first morning, we played Scotscraig in Tayport, Fife.  This Open qualifying course is relatively new, having been established in 1817.  No caddies today, we pulled and carried our own clubs.

We were followed by a foursome of local Scots, two ladies and two gentlemen.  In their usual style, we were pushed all morning even though we were playing a two ball game.  We aren't accustomed to being pushed by the ladies.

After Scotscraig, we left immediately for St. Andrews and our 2:10 pm tee time.  We were not about to be late for this engagement.  In fact the whole trip had been planned around this tee time.
